Trotter Residence

Lewiston, Idaho

The design of the Trotter residence in Lewiston, Idaho takes advantage of a unique site that adjoins the Modie Park Conservancy, a secluded wildlife and wetlands area that cuts through the heart of the city. South facing windows are sheltered from the intense Lewiston summer sun by an extended overhang and outdoor patio, yet open up the main living area to the side yard and the outstanding views of the wetland area. The owners enjoy daily sightings of songbirds, wild turkeys, rabbits and deer.

The residence is accentuated by recycled building components collect by the owners. We incorporated historic doors, operable interior windows and weathered columns into the design of the home. The wood flooring used in the main living area is salvaged material that was originally used as bleachers at Potlatch High School.
